My family gathered at my parents' house for Thanksgiving. Anna had a big time playing with her cousin Alex, who is five years old.
Alex [to my mother]: "Is that your baby?"
My mother: "No, Anna is Shannon's baby."
Alex [to me]: "Is that your baby?"
Me: "Yes."
Alex: "I like it."
I like "it," too, Alex. In fact, I don't think I've ever been so thankful.
Healthy, beautiful daughter. Wonderful husband. Great family and friends. Cozy home on a hill. Crazy dogs. I am very, very thankful.
